Handicaps
All competitors must have an established handicap authorized by their state's Golf Association. Guest Handicaps will be their LHI for the past 12-month low index as of June 8th. Member handicaps will be frozen on June 15th after the ISP #3. The maximum handicap to be used by a competitor is 36.
The course handicap differential between partners must not exceed 12 strokes. If it does exceed 12 strokes, the higher handicapped player will be reduced to his partner's 12-stroke differential. The Tournament handicap is then calculated at 90%.
Tournament Tees and Rules 75 & 85
The Gunslinger will be played from the Blue Tees (Gunslinger Tees). However, if your age (any month in 2025) plus your rounded-up GHIN Index total is between 75 and 84, you have the option to move up to the Orange tees. If your age plus index is 85 or over, you also have the option to move up to the White tees. LTMGC members will use their LT Playing Index, not USGA GHIN Index. This is an "OPTION" and must be declared while registering for this event. We respect and accommodate the experience of our senior players, allowing them to choose a tee that suits their abilities. Any senior utilizing this option will have their handicap reduced using USGA Handicap Rule 3.5.
Example using any sign up date in 2025:
Rule 75 - Age 70, DOB of Dec. 31, 1954 + GHIN Index 10.1, Round up to 11 = 81, Qualify for ORANGE Tees
Rule 85 - Age 75, DOB of Dec. 31, 1949 + GHIN Index 14.1, Round up to 15 = 90, Qualify for WHITE Tees
USGA Handicap Rule 3-5: Players competing from different tees awards strokes to those playing a higher-rated golf course equal to the difference between each USGA Course Rating, with .5 or greater rounded upward. The additional strokes are subtracted from the Course Handicap of the player playing from the lower-rated set of tees.
