Bill Ramsey

Bill came from Foothills after a 15 year career as director of golf for Foothills.

Bill was hired by SS Parks & Recreation once they purchased the club out of bankruptcy and has made Lone Tree a premiere course in Colorado.  The district was able to purchase the property for about $4mm with a current estimated value around $35 - $40mm.  I nice purchase I think we will all agree!

Two of the major projects he undertook upon starting at Lone Tree were renovating the cart paths and the irrigation system.  Improvements to the building have been and continue to be worked on to give the property a modern feel even with it’s advance age.

During the first week of ownership, there was a bit of a challenge to say the least, with the homeowners on the back 9.  All cart paths that crossed the roads on the back were closed by the HOA and blocked off to players.  A small issue that may have caused a little “pace of play” issue that first day.

Later that same day, the fences were removed through a court order.  After a bit of a court battle, the course won and were allowed to use the crossovers in full.  A piece of cake for Bill !!!

Over the course of the past 35 years, Bill and his staff worked on minor improvements to the course to make it what it is today.  The property is currently zoned agricultural since many of us are still looking for lost balls in fields and hazards that we have all grown to love.

Since the beginning of the Men’s club in 1991 and the ladies club to follow, both have been major assets to the clubs operations and huge successes for the players.

The relationship between both men’s and ladies clubs have been, “in Bill’s words” very good!!

Through the purchase of the property, 100 Annual Memberships have been maintained.  They were full the first 8 years.  There were a few years the annual memberships were not full.  AS OF today, there are 160 on the “wait list” for an annual membership.  The management of the course and Bill’s efforts are a major reason for its popularity.  Maybe a little of that little Vid issue we all saw in 2020 as well!

Bill shared that he has been very grateful for the friendships that have developed over his tenure and the staff he has been honored to work with.

A major honor Bill is most proud of was being chosen by the Men’s Club and inducted into the Men’s Club Hall of Fame and as of today, the only non-member of the men’s club to have been inducted!!

Please join us all in congratulating and “thanking” Bill for his friendship and efforts in helping us to become one of the best Men’s Clubs in the country.
