Bruce Larsen

Our 3rd honorary first tee shot this year is Bruce Larsen.  The knowledge and history I learned during this interview was a treasure to hear.

Bruce is one of the original members of the Lone Tree Country Club from its beginning in 1985.  One of the original 400 members.

Lone Tree Country Club opened the front 9 on July 4th of ’85 and the back 9 towards the end of July that same year.

After the closing of the country club, the purchase by SSPRD, Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel started operations in 1991.

At the beginning of 1992, the Lone Tree Men’s Golf Club was formed.

Bruce served as the club’s president and membership chair for 14 years!!!  It’s safe to say that this men’s club would not be what it is today without the hard work Bruce put towards its founding and success!!!!!!

During those first years, and pardon the language, SLOW PLAY WAS discussed during EVERY FFFF&%*$ing meeting !!!!

There were a large number of good things that came about the first 5-10 years of the men’s clubs operations.

The beginnings of the clubs internet presence and email communications in ’94 & ‘95.  This is when the LTMGC.COM was first registered.  Bruce, with the help of another long-time member, Rick Backman had a major influence on these three items.

Figuring out payouts for tournaments were established and continue to this day!!!!  All started by this first group of board members which continues to this day.  It is easy to say that without Bruce’s hard work and dedication, it would have taken much longer for this club to become one of the best in the country.

Bruce was an integral part of the first club handicap system which then became our tournament handicap system we all play under now.

The focus back then was:  Good Board   Good Communications   &    Good People  focused on making the Lone Tree Men’s Golf Club the best.

Just a few of the items Bruce is most proud of;

Starting the Friday Baggers Game  -  A competitive opportunity that allowed everyone to play on a regular basis.

Working on the BOD and the friendships he has had along the way.

Bruce wanted to  recognize Paul Pronsati for continuing and improving our current handicap system and its management!!
